【作家メッセージ】
2010年夏、私はガラスと出会いました。
ふとした事から父が電気炉を入手し、見よう見まねで溶かした青いおはじきの美しさに、私はガラスの虜になりました。
それから始まった私のガラス作家人生は、未知との遭遇の連続で、自分の想い描くガラスを形にするべく研究と実験に没頭する日々を過ごすにつれ、私は益々ガラスの面白さや魅力に引き込まれていきました。
私が取り組んでいるガラス技法は、世界最古のガラス技法「パート・ド・ヴェール」と呼ばれていて、幾度となく継承が途絶え「幻の技法」とも云われてきました。
私の追求する「薄く緻密で繊細な、透明感のある鮮やかな色彩」で表現したガラス作品、特に私の代表作でもあるガラスの蝶は、他には無い緻密さで表現し好評をいただいています。
そのことを光栄に思うと共に、変幻自在でまだ多くの魅力を秘めたガラスと関われることに感謝しています。

【Message from the artist】
In the summer of 2010, I encountered glass for the first time.
My father had casually acquired an electric kiln, and after attempting to melt glass by trial and error, I was captivated by the beauty of the blue glass marbles. This marked the beginning of my journey as a glass artist, a path filled with continuous encounters with the unknown. As I spent my days deeply engrossed in research and experimentation to bring my vision of glass to life, I became increasingly fascinated and drawn to the allure of glass.
The glass technique I work with is called pâte de verre, the oldest glassmaking technique in the world. This technique has experienced many interruptions in its tradition and has been referred to as a ‘lost art.’ I create glass art with ‘thin, intricate, and delicate forms, characterized by a vivid transparency and vibrant colors.’
My signature piece, the glass butterfly, is especially well-received for its unparalleled intricacy.
I am honored by this recognition and deeply grateful to be able to work with glass, a medium that is ever-changing and still holds so many hidden charms. I hope you will visit the ‘Japanese Craftsmanship Exhibition’ and experience firsthand the timeless romance of glass.
