【作家メッセージ】
革製品は使ってみると年月と共に馴染み、愛着がわいてきます。
私もパスケース、ペンケース、ブックカバー等々、10年以上の物がたくさんあります。
なかなか新しいものに変えられない。
だから一度お持ちいただくと同じ物の二度目はないということ。
常に新しいアイディアの作品を作らなければなりません。

作品の中には何度か並べても、手に取っていただけないものがあります。
何でかな？　肩ひもや持ち手の色や長さを変えたり、サイズを変更したりといろいろ工夫してみます。
そうした作品をお買い上げいただいたときは本当に嬉しいです。

周りの方々からのアドバイスや、町で見かける作品などからハッとするアイディアはいっぱい浮かぶのですが、なかなか自分の作品として作り上げるのは難しいです。

昨年の工芸展に初めて立体の動物を作りました。
動物は苦手で顔や体つきもわかりません。
でも色を重ねていくうちに次第に愛しくかわいくなってきました。

【Artist’s Message】
Leather products become more familiar and endearing over time as they are used. I also have many items like pass cases, pen cases, and book covers that I’ve had for over ten years. It’s difficult for me to replace them with new ones because, once you own an item, you won’t find a second one like it. Therefore, I must always create new pieces with fresh ideas.
Some of my works might not attract attention even after being displayed multiple times. I wonder why that is. I experimented with different shoulder strap colors, handle lengths, and sizes to find what might work. Thus, I am truly delighted when such pieces are eventually purchased.
I often get inspired by advice from others and by looking around town, but turning these ideas into my own creations is quite challenging.
Last year, I made three-dimensional animal figures for the first time at a craft exhibition. I’m not very skilled with animals and struggle with their faces and body shapes. However, as I layered the colors, they gradually became endearing and cute.
I hope you will take a look at them.
