【作家メッセージ】
2014年8月 (74才) に会社を退職後にレザークラフトを習い始めましたが物づくりのむつかしさ悟りました。
特に皮を使っての作業は思ったより少なく悪戦苦闘の毎日でした。
3年目大阪工芸協会主催の工芸展で賞を頂き何とか自分なり作品をつくることが出来る様になり少しは人前に出せるような作品が出来る様になりました。
まだまだ納得のできる作品が作れているとは思いませんが少しでも熟練の皆様の足を引っ張るようなことのないように努力はしていくつもりです。 なし年数が少いためにアイデアがなくて作品つくりには苦労がありますがとにかくいろんな作品を作り続けていればまた新たな出会いも生まれて来ると思います。
皮でできるものといえば小物であればコインケース、財布、カードケース等で、 大きなものであれば鞄 トートバッグ、ショルダバック、ポシェット等で大体のものは形が決まっているように思われるのがげんじつかと思われます。
特に具体的に決まっているものでなく新しい物で特別物を作ってみたいと常に考えてはいるのですが古い人間の頭ではむつかしいかもしれませんがない知恵を絞っているつもりですどんなものができるか分かりませんが出来るだけ新しい物を作り続けていきたいと思います。
今までもあったものと変わったもの新しいタイプの物を作り続けて体の続く限り作り続けて行きたいと思いますので末永くお付き合いいただきたいと思います。
【Message from the artist】
I started learning leather crafts after retiring from work in August 2014 (age 74), but I realized how difficult it is to make things.
Especially working with leather, it has been a struggle every day.
In my third year, I received an award at a crafts exhibition sponsored by the Osaka Crafts Association, and I managed to create my own works of art, which I can now present to the public.
I don’t think I have yet been able to create works that I am satisfied with, but I will continue to challenge myself so that I will not be a drag on the more experienced artists.
I have been in the business for only a few years, so I don’t have a lot of ideas, but I believe that if I continue to create a variety of pieces, I will be blessed with new encounters.
Speaking of things that can be made from leather, small items like coin cases, wallets, and card cases, and large items such as bags, tote bags, shoulder bags, and pochettes are usually considered to have a certain shape. I am always thinking about making something new and special, but it may be difficult with my old human brain.
I am not sure what kind of things I will be able to produce, but I would like to keep making new things as long as I can.
